Hastings School 5th in EYP National competition

On Thursday 26th April, three Year 11 students travelled to Barcelona to take part in the 7th National Session of the European Youth Parliament in Sitges.
Alovya Chowdhury, Tito Fideluno Adhipandito and Sol Vendrell were accompanied by Ms.Clark over the four days of the event. The students participated in different committees, working with some of the delegates from 23 other schools.

WELCOME TO THE FIRST EXPRO STUDENT EXCHANGE

We would like to give a warm welcome to Maddy Williams, Josh Chadwick and Ben Chapman who will be spending the next month at Hastings. They are the first pupils of the Cognita Schools Exchange Programme initiated this year. We hope this will mark the beginning of an exciting, on-going project between Hastings and other Cognita schools.

HASTINGS SCHOOL COMES FIRST

April 17th, 2012

Thursday April 12th was another landmark occasion in Hastings sporting history. The senior athletics ‘team’ achieved a merited first place in this year’s competition. As currently the smallest school in Madrid, Hastings students competed against participants from institutions of up to four times the size. It is a competition that we last won in 2005 so the students were justifiably enthusiastic at the result. Click on the title to see more ++

The newspaper “El Mundo” has selected Hastings School as one of the best private schools in Madrid

The newspaper EL MUNDO presented its 12th edition on the best semi-private and private schools in Spain, a practical guide for families with school children and a reference in the educational sector. Hastings School in Madrid was given special mention in the section covering the best private international schools in Spain.

…..AND THE CARNIVAL CAME TO HASTINGS SCHOOL!

Primary children (and teachers) from Year 1 to Year 6 had a wonderful time last Friday when the Spanish Department organised a Carnival. We celebrated with two assemblies, a parade, music and dancing. We all had a great time. Thank you to mums and dads for providing such wonderful costumes. We hope you enjoy looking at the photos. Three Year 11 students of Hastings School selected by the European Youth Parliament competition

On Saturday, 28th January 2012, six Year 11 (EYP) students attended a General Assembly day of teh European Youth Parliament (EYP). I.Rodríguez, T.Adhipandito, A.Chowdhury, R.Uceda, L.Sainz de la Maza and S.Vendrell were accompanied by Ms Clark (and some of their parents) to participate as Paliamentary delegates.

The event took place a t Centro Cultural Pablo Iglesias in Alcobendas, Madrid, from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Students from six different schools participated in this regional competition. They were required to discuss resolutions as diverse as nuclear energy, education, the Arab spring, islamic culture, pollution and decriminalisation of certain drugs and their implications on Europe.

Success for ex Hastings Student in the UK

January 9th, 2012

Marcos left Hastings in June 2008 and began studying his undergraduate degree entitled ‘Civil and Environmental Engineering’ at ImperialCollege in London. ImperialCollege is a specialist science and technology university and is known by some people as the MIT of the UK. Marcos has completed his degree, graduating with first class honours and at the top of his class, and he has begun a Ph.D within fluid mechanics studying the hydrodynamic behaviour of wave-energy converters.

We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations to our Christmas Food Collection. The Salvation Army were delighted!

In an Assembly for Years 4, 5 & 6 they explained how the food would de used over Christmas period and during the cold winter months ahead.

Children were interested to hear about the kind of help provided throughout the year and were able to ask questions.

First Anniversary as a Cognita school

December 2nd, 2011

Last Friday 25th November was Hasting’s first anniversary as a member of the prestigious Cognita educational project, and I am glad to say that all the essential objectives have been met. The main task, which involved the expansion of the school, became a reality with the official opening of the Bendición de Campos site on 12th September 2011, after nine months of construction work.

THEATRE TRIP TO SEVILLA

November 22nd, 2011

32 Year 10 and 11 students together with four teachers have successfully completed another theatre tour this year to St. George´s School, Seville. Pupils at St. George´s School enjoyed a very professional performance of the show, “A Twist in the Tale” and Hastings students impressed everyone with their maturity, cooperation and high level of English.
