1st Hastings School – Secondary Science Fair
On Saturday, 10th March 2018, students from Hastings School secondary section participated in the very first Hastings Science Fair! The event was open to students from years 7 to 9. The students competed in teams of 4. They had to present a poster based on a practical experiment and investigation they had carried out at school for the judges. We had several teams from each year group and were very well represented.
We were very lucky to be joined by teams from The Maxwell School who also took part in the competition. The quality, dedication to detail and learning that took place was incredible and students, parents and teachers alike all had a fantastic time. Given the fantastic time that was had by all the participants we will definitely be undertaking this event again next year.
We are also trying to organise a robot building competition, along similar lines, for the summer term this year. So, everyone get saving that old Lego you don’t play with anymore and stay posted for details of this upcoming competition.
We would like to thank:
- Mr. Connolly and Miss. Martínez for organising the event – and for giving up so much of their free time to help the students with their project. Mr. McEachen and Mr. Lyons for acting as judges.
- Our colleagues at the Maxwell School for supporting this event so well.
- To all the parents who attended for their support and interest on the day.
