2015 Shadowing Programme for Year 11

We are happy to announce that our 2015 Shadowing Programme for Year 11 students went extremely well.

Recently, June 10th to 12th, all of our Year 11 students were able to benefit from the opportunity of shadowing people in work environments that were of interest to them.  The idea is to give students an insight into what these professions entail and, hopefully, help them decide their professional futures wisely.

Each student had to maintain a work experience diary and bring their completed diary back to school following the shadowing week. In the diary they recorded comments about what they had seen and learnt. One student who shadowed at the Hospital 12 de Octubre commented: ‘I now know how critical operations work and how much dedication and concentration goes into the job (the student had observed two live births).’ Another student recounted her experiences helping a vet to vaccinate military horses. A student who went to the’ Instituto  Geográfico Nacional de España’ said: ‘I was able to meet many people and it was interesting that most were physicists or mathematicians instead of geographers. They were all very nice to us, especially the sub-director who showed us everything about seismology.’

Below is a list of the companies shadowed by our Year 11 students.
