Hastings School participation in European Youth Parliament
On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of February, six students from Hastings School were involved in the Madrid session of the European Youth Parliament competition. Sofia, Monish, Nicolas, Monica, Clara and Daira from Year 12 joined students from 7 other schools to have two days of team building, committee work and a General Assembly debate. Other participants included delegates from King’s College, San Patricio, Virgen de Europa, SEK, Ramon and Cajal, San Mateo and Liceo Europa.
After the registration process on Saturday morning, all students got to know their committee team mates through team building games in the Retiro Park. The delegates then moved to the Architectural College in the centre of Madrid for committee work. On Sunday, the same venue’s auditorium was used for the General Assembly day of debate and voting.
Over the next week, three judges will decide which three students from which three colleges will progress to the national session, held in April in Seville. Fingers crossed that Hastings School will be selected to move forward to the next stage!
After a few days of deliberation, the jury awarded to Hastings School the second prize and they have decided that Clara, Daira and Nicolas go to the National final in Seville in April.
These are great news, congratulations to the team!
