The Save the Children Ukraine Appeal

As many of you will know, Hastings School have decided to support Ukraine and, specifically, the Save the Children Ukraine Appeal. The Save the Children Ukraine Appeal is an organisation that was founded in the United Kingdom in 1919 to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.

We are all shocked by the terrible war that is currently happening in Ukraine. However, over the past few weeks, millions of people have come together in solidarity for the innocent families whose lives are being destroyed and Save the Children have already made a difference to the lives of many vulnerable children in Ukraine, with the aim of 3.5 million families.

How Save the Children have helped:

  • Distribution of essential supplies and winter kits of clothing and blankets as temperatures plunge below freezing
  • Provision of cash and vouchers assistance to families to meet basic needs like food, rent and medicines
  • Vital mental health and psychosocial support to children and their families
  • Provision of access to safe, inclusive, quality education

On Friday the 18th, Hastings School students were able to wear blue and yellow clothes in order to show support for Ukraine. Some of the older students chose to wear white, as a symbol of world peace. The students took part in various awareness and fund-raising activities and, all together, we are so pleased to announce that we raised 3397,58€ for this important cause.
