Year 3’s terrific new topic is all about ‘Birds’ and what better way to have a ‘Brilliant Beginning’ than to visit a museum. Last Thursday and Friday, 26th and 27th January, the Year 3 classes visited the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid.
While there, the children undertook a workshop to learn about different types of birds and their habitats. The well-presented workshop not only provided facts and information but also allowed the children to wear bird masks and act out songs with a dance to embed the learning.
The children were then asked to create and colour an eagle of their own from a template. This was followed by a tour of all the other animals, rocks and fossils that were on show. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip and were a shining example of behaviour, representing Hastings school extremely well.
