Admissions Process

Joining us is simple

Begin the journey with our straightforward admissions process

Apply for a place at our exceptional school, and put your child on the path to a fantastic educational experience.

We have designed our admissions process to be simple, and we will happily guide you every step of the way.

Four easy step process:
1
Request Information

Once you have made an enquiry, one of our Admissions Officers will get in contact to tell you about what our school can offer.

2
Come and visit us

We encourage all families to visit the school, either on a private visit or during one of the Open Events held throughout the year.

During your visit you will see the pupils and teachers in action and get a sense of our international community in the centre of Madrid.

3
Complete our assessment and reserve your place

We ask all pupils from Year 1 to Year 13 (age 5 to 17) to complete an assessment and attend an individual interview to assess their academic ability for entry into Hastings School.

After successfully completing the assessment you will be given the opportunity to reserve a place.

4
Start at Hastings School

We will be at your side to ensure that your integration as a new family is a smooth process and a positive experience.

Entry Requirements

Early Years

To join to Pre-Nursery or Nursery, the only requirement is the submission of the official enrolment form accompanied by the necessary documentation.

For children joining Reception, parents must complete and return the official enrolment form, accompanied by the necessary documentation. Where applicable, parents are also requested to include a recent report from the child’s current nursery school.

Children that apply for Nursery and Reception places are not required to have any prior knowledge of English.

Primary

Pupils applying for places in Year 1 should have an age-appropriate level of English.

Pupils applying for primary places in Year 2 and above must have an age-appropriate level of spoken and written English, plus an age-appropriate understanding of numeracy.

Parents must complete and return the official enrolment forms and attach all the necessary documentation, including previous school reports. If a place is available, an appointment will be made for parents to visit the school and for their child to meet the Deputy Head.

If school reports and assessments are satisfactory, a place will be offered. For children who do not have a high level of English, there is an option to have additional lessons. Please contact admissions for more details.

Secondary and Pre-University

We need to make sure that any student who joins us already possesses a suitable level of English and other the relevant subjects, so that they can make good academic progress from their first day at school. As a minimum we will need to have the child’s two most recent school reports.

Parents should complete and return the necessary paperwork. If a place is available, an appointment will be made for parents to visit the school and for their child to meet a member of the leadership team. At this point potential students may be asked to sit an English exam, or exams specific to the subject areas they wish to study, depending on each child’s individual application.
