Once again, the Nexus Building became home to a vibrant celebration of creativity as our Year 12 and Year 13 students presented their Art and Photography Exhibition 2026. The exhibition showcased an extraordinary collection of work developed throughout the academic year, highlighting the imagination, dedication and artistic growth of our students across a wide variety of media and themes.

Families, staff and students were welcomed into a dynamic gallery space filled with paintings, photography, mixed media installations, fashion-inspired pieces and conceptual artwork. Each project reflected not only technical skill and creativity, but also the personal stories, ideas and reflections that inspired the students throughout their artistic journeys.

The exhibition transformed the Nexus Building into an immersive creative environment, where visitors could experience the diversity of styles and perspectives explored by our students. From deeply personal narratives and explorations of identity to thought-provoking social themes and experimental artistic techniques, every display demonstrated a strong sense of individuality and purpose.

Throughout the exhibition, students presented their work with exceptional professionalism and confidence, speaking thoughtfully about their creative processes, influences and artistic intentions. Their ability to communicate the meaning behind their projects reflected the depth of research, experimentation and commitment invested in each piece over the course of the year.

The Photography displays captured particularly striking visual narratives, using composition, lighting and symbolism to explore themes such as connection, self-expression, memory and transformation. Alongside these works, the Art projects showcased an impressive range of approaches, incorporating painting, sculpture, textiles, illustration and multimedia techniques to create visually engaging and emotionally resonant pieces.

Beyond the artistic outcomes themselves, the exhibition celebrated the importance of creativity as a means of communication, reflection and personal growth. The event offered students an opportunity to share their voices and perspectives with the wider school community, while also encouraging meaningful conversations around art, culture and identity.

At Hastings School, we believe that the arts play a fundamental role in helping students develop confidence, critical thinking and creative independence. The exhibition was a powerful reflection of the passion, resilience and originality nurtured within our Art and Photography departments, as well as the supportive environment that encourages students to take creative risks and express themselves authentically.

We are incredibly proud of all our Year 12 and Year 13 students for the hard work, vision and dedication they demonstrated throughout the exhibition process. Their work reflected not only outstanding artistic ability, but also curiosity, courage and a genuine commitment to creative exploration.

Our sincere thanks also go to the Art and Photography teachers for their continuous guidance, encouragement and inspiration throughout the students’ creative journeys. The exhibition stood as a wonderful celebration of artistic achievement and a testament to the exceptional talent within our school community.
