At Hastings School we are committed to providing high quality education for all our students. We strongly believe that all children should have access to an appr opriate education that enables them to fulfill their potential. However, Hastings only possesses the infrastructure and professional personnel to accept children with mild special educational needs or learning difficulties (rather than moderate or severe). Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator helps us to assess a child’s SEN level and requirements.
We identify the individual needs of each student and aim to meet those needs through a flexible approach to learning and teaching. We ensure that children work at a level fitting for their age and capacities, and endeavour to support them through a range of interventions including direct support in class. We believe a rich, challenging and stimulating curriculum, and close and constructive work with parents will ensure that all of our students will be able to reach their potential.
